Maverick Wireless BBQ Thermometer Set – Maverick ET732

Now you can monitor the internal temperature of the meat cooking on your grill from 300 feet away! The LCD and alarm on the receiver will beep and flash when the meat goes beyond your programmed temperature. When used for monitoring your BBQ temperature, it will beep and flash whenever the temperature gets above or below the range you have programmed into it. It has a timer that counts up or down, and the LCD on the receiver has a backlight for when barbecuing at night. The thermometer displays temperatures of up to 572°F. The receiver features a built-in belt clip and also a stand, while the transmitter has a removable wire stand that can also become a hanger. Other features include an in-oven capability, memory function to store settings, and out of range alert.

With such great versatility and price, it could be the best BBQ thermometer here in the list. It can monitor both the temperature of the meat and of the smoker or grill if you wish it to do so. The range of the wireless transmitter is more than adequate, but some users have reported that obstructions like walls can sometimes cause the connection to be weakened, decreasing the range by a fair amount. It does not have what you would call a bargain price, but considering the vast amount of features that is to be expected. What’s not is that it is rather fragile, particularly the probe. Even the slightest humidity or the most minor of accidental tug can render it useless. A replacement is cheap but it would be inconvenient to have it go wrong in the middle of a grilling session.

Maverick Wireless BBQ Thermometer Set – Maverick ET73

Another product from Maverick, and this time it is the ET73. It has a range of 100 feet, and has the ability to monitor meat and a smokehouse, grill or oven. An alarm will set off when temperatures either get too high or low, according to you programmed temperature range. Four AAA batteries that are needed to power it up are included with a purchase of this thermometer.

It is essentially the same as the previous product, but instead it has a decreased range, and also price. The decreased range would mean that it will be ideal for indoor use. Setting up the device is easy, but it can be tedious when setting a temperature as it does not have up/down buttons. So if you missed your temperature you’d have to go all the way around the entire temperature range (max is at 370°F) and start again. The power button is oddly placed inside among the batteries, and so you’d have to open the cover which is held closed by a plastic thumb screw. The probe is also quite fragile, having the same problems as the previous product. It’s an okay product for its price, but with flaws that only a few can live with.

Man Law BBQ Series Grill/Smoker Thermometer with Glow in the Dark Dial

It has a temperature range of 50 to 500°F. This stainless steel analogue thermometer also has a glow in the dark dial and pointer over a black face. It is designed to be an addition or as a replacement to the gauge in your smokehouse or grill.

Man Law; that name sure makes an impression. So does this, and a good one! It’s designed to be more of a smokehouse thermometer but actually works quite well as a BBQ thermometer. The glow in the dark dial isn’t actually very legible in truly dark settings, but at least they gave it a try. It can be calibrated, but there’s no manual (“manufacturer’s opinion” for some) or anything of the sort in the packaging as it may seem. You’d just have to man up and figure it out for yourself.
